Alpha has proven itself time and again to be an extremely versatile grinder that ‘punches well above its weight’
- It’s compact form makes it convenient to store and transport, to move around in buildings and ideal for grinding in cubicles, small rooms and on landings, in any situation where space and movement is restricted.
- The 2 hp motor guarantees uninterrupted operation on 110 volt supplies, even on the toughest of grinding tasks
- The offset drive plate (diamond segment carrier) means you can grind right up against walls or obstructions. To do this, remove the outer dust control ring (more on this below) and the disk front edge is fully exposed - dust control is NOT compromised so long as you are using a suitable dust extractor.
- Dust control is provided by an inner rubber skirt and an outer plastic ring. The rubber skirt is firmly secured to the grinder and has a front cutaway (see central pictures above) that exposes the front edge of the disk. The outer plastic ring slides around the floor freely and when not required, the grinder is pivoted backwards on its wheels and the ring pushed aside - simple yet highly effective
- Dust extraction - we recommend a good quality twin motor dust extractor. Alpha has a 50 mm dust extraction port.
- Diamonds and Abrasives - in common with all PWM floor grinders, Alpha uses bolt-on diamonds and abrasives. The full range of PWM diamond and abrasive can be used, although being comparatively light in weight, not all types will be applicable. The standard Alpha package includes four dual segment diamond blocks, with soft bond and 25 grit diamond (DSB5-3) - these are suitable for grinding even the hardest of concrete. The most common alternative would be specification DSB7-4, having a slightly harder bond and a grit size in the range 30-40 - these will work best on medium to hard concrete.
The Alpha grinder has been supplied with variable speed control (240 volt only) for polishing concrete floors. Although the machine footprint is relatively small compared to most polishers or sanders, Alpha with variable speed control is a practical machine for maintenance cleaning and repolishing of existing floors where access or movement is restricted.
