Most notable is its ability to plunge cut and to cut square. Compared to using a disk cutter, it is cleaner and removes the requirement to over-cut in corners. A classic use is the removal of a single brick.

A range of blades complement the unqiue cutting action, permitting use in brick and blockwork, soft natural stone products, various wood types and a range of plastic materials. Other common applications include

  • joint raking, prior to re-pointing
  • chasing for electrics and plumbing
  • switch box installation
  • toothing brickwork for extensions
  • removal of built-in fixtures

The AS160 is widely used in conservation works where the precision and control it permits reduces the risk of damage to sensitive structures. Special (thin) conservation blades are now available for cutting and raking in narrow bed joints as is a roller-based guiding system to ensure accuracy and consistent depth of cut.
