Kerb Lifter

Kerb Buddy Powergrab

Health & Safety regulations dictate that kerbstones should where possible be handled using machinery, with direct manual input only being permissible when all other options have been exhausted. Under no circumstances, should hands be applied directly to kerbstones for the purposes of lifting.

Powergrab Kerb Buddy

Powergrab Kerb Buddy has been designed to implement these recommendations. Featuring a cantilever mechanism with a rolling fulcrum pivot, the Powergrab design delivers a consistent clamping action, generated by the downward force of the load. The Powergrab Kerb Buddy system has been successfully proof tested with 100% plus overloads (more than twice the rated Safe Working Load of 65 kgs).

Where possible, Powergrab Kerb Buddy should be used with a mechanical lifting system, a typical example being the Kubota mini-digger (pictured right). A guiding pole of suitable length can be used to assist with accurate positioning of the kerb

Where mechanised lifting is not available, the Powergrab Kerb Buddy can be coupled with a Manhole Lifting Trolley. This trolley delivers a mechanical advantage of approximately 2.5:1 and uses only downward application of force. The operator is therefore not involved in any potentially hazardous lifting actions and the downward effort required to raise the load is greatly reduced. In addition, the operator is standing at a safe distance from the suspended load, which will never be more than 30 - 40 cms above ground level.

Having placed the kerbstone and retracted the lifting system, the Powergrab Kerb Buddy handles can be used to make final adjustments or to ’tamp’ the kerbstone on the bed. Persons involved in this activity must first have been instructed in the correct posture for such work.

The Powergrab design has also been applied to the lifting of other products, including different kerb types, sleepers, and pipes. The use of the trolley to provide mechanical assistance can also be applied in differing situations. Please contact us for further details or to discuss a specific application
