Pointing or Tooling irons should produce consistent, well defined, pointing profiles, compressing and sealing the mortar, thereby ensuring a stronger, more durable joint, which will withstand weathering and be less prone to discolouration. Used with or without wheels, the Pointmaster system allows the bricklayer (or his ‘mate’) to quickly produce finished joints of consistent quality and cosmetic appearance. Equally suitable for occasional bricklayers and competent DIY’ers.

The basic Wheeled Tool is supplied with a pack of Raking Studs. These raking studs are generally used for raking mortar joints during the initial construction process. They may also be suitable for raking small areas of loose or crumbling mortar, prior to repointing. For removal of long-established bed joints prior to repointing, use the dust free C-Tec Brick Raking system with a diamond blade or the Mortar Termite system with its TCT router bits.

Shown alongside, from left to right alongside, are the standard irons - Weatherstruck, Bucket Handle and the 8 & 10 mm wide Recessed.These irons are generally used with the wheels fitted on the tool. In this configuration, the Pointmaster delivers consistent pressure on the mortar and controls the depth of the finished profile, thereby ensuring a finished joint of consistent quality and cosmetic appearance. However, the tool can be used freehand, with the wheels removed.

A pack of 10 Raking Studs is supplied with each Wheeled Tool.

Recessed irons are available in 8 and 10 mm widths. They produce a flat sealed joint, recessed to your chosen depth, set by fitting shims beneath the irons
Bucket Handle irons produce a concave surface joint of consistent shape and finish
Weatherstruck irons create a sloping joint which aids water shedding
